Mission Statement

The Practical Natural Sciences is a peer-reviewed, gold open-access journal dedicated to publishing well-conducted research in physics, chemistry, biology, and earth sciences. Founded in 2026, the journal serves as an international platform for original research spanning foundational studies and applied interdisciplinary investigation.

We are committed to methodological rigour, ethical integrity, and rapid dissemination of findings that advance our understanding of the natural world. Every submission is evaluated solely on scientific merit, independent of the authors' institutional affiliation, geographic location, or funding source.

"We believe that transformative scientific knowledge should be freely accessible to every researcher, educator, and lifelong learner on the planet — regardless of institutional affiliation or geographic location."

The Practical Natural Sciences actively encourages contributions from researchers worldwide, including those based in low- and middle-income countries. APC waivers are available for eligible authors; see our Article Processing Charges page for details.

Subject Coverage

The journal covers the full breadth of the natural sciences, welcoming both foundational studies and applied interdisciplinary research. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

Physics

  • Classical mechanics & electromagnetism
  • Thermodynamics & statistical mechanics
  • Quantum physics & atomic physics
  • Condensed matter physics
  • Optics & photonics
  • Acoustics & fluid dynamics

Chemistry

  • Organic chemistry & synthesis
  • Inorganic chemistry & coordination chemistry
  • Analytical chemistry & spectroscopy
  • Materials chemistry & nanotechnology
  • Physical chemistry & chemical physics
  • Environmental chemistry & green chemistry

Biology

  • Cell biology & molecular biology
  • Genetics & genomics
  • Ecology & ecosystem science
  • Evolutionary biology & biodiversity
  • Microbiology & virology
  • Physiology & biochemistry

Earth Sciences

  • Geology & mineralogy
  • Atmospheric science & climatology
  • Oceanography & hydrology
  • Environmental science & geochemistry

Studies that bridge traditional disciplinary boundaries are especially encouraged. Purely applied engineering or clinical work without natural science foundations falls outside the journal's primary scope.

Article Types

The journal accepts a range of article formats to accommodate different research outputs. Authors should select the most appropriate type before submission. Full word limits and structural requirements are detailed in the Author Guidelines.
