Mission Statement

The Practical Energy is a peer-reviewed, gold open-access journal dedicated to publishing well-conducted research in energy systems, renewable energy, and energy policy. Founded in 2026, the journal serves as an international platform for original research that advances the transition to sustainable energy systems worldwide.

We are committed to methodological rigour, ethical integrity, and rapid dissemination of findings that carry genuine potential to accelerate the global energy transition. Every submission is evaluated solely on scientific merit, independent of the authors' institutional affiliation, geographic location, or funding source.

"We believe that transformative energy research should be freely accessible to every researcher, engineer, policymaker, and industry professional on the planet — regardless of institutional affiliation or geographic location."

The Practical Energy actively encourages contributions from researchers worldwide, including those based in low- and middle-income countries. APC waivers are available for eligible authors; see our Article Processing Charges page for details.
